Help “Stuff the Bus” With Supplies for Local Kids
Members of the THS Student United Way/Rotary Interact along with the United Way of the Titusville Region are once again asking the community to help us “STUFF THE BUS”.
Stuff the Bus is a program designed to allow caring individuals to donate school items to be given to students in need of a helping hand in getting ready for the start of the new school year. According to ALICE Report, released by the United Way of Pennsylvania recently shows that 57% of hardworking families in the United Way service area cannot afford basic needs and see no path to financial stability. Projects like Stuff the Bus help families to stretch their dollars a bit further to help them meet other financial needs. The last pre-COVID collection yielded over 10,000 school items that were distributed.
Members of the THS Student United Way/Rotary Interact will be collecting donations in a bus which is, once again, being provided by Northwest Bus. The bus will be featured in the Oil Festival Parade, and will be on hand at Wal-Mart on August 16 from 11:00-5:00 and on August 17th from 12:00 until 6:00 pm to accept donations. Donations can also be made at the United Way booth at the Oil Festival, located in Scheide Park or at the United Way office during regular business hours.
Monetary donations will be accepted at the Walmart collection event or those interested in a secure digital option may text StuffThatBus to 41444 or use the QR code found on our Facebook page or on posters throughout the region.
Donations will be sorted and used to fill backpacks with school supplies for students within the Titusville Area School District. Any surplus of donated items will be distributed to local non-profits and the elementary school buildings to be used for kids that lack the needed supplies.
Needed items include: pencils, click pencils, pens, crayons, glue/glue sticks, highlighters, markers, Kleenex/tissues, hand sanitizer, colored pencils, calculators, erasers, notebooks, backpacks, lunchboxes, and socks and underwear for students age 4-6. Items may be dropped off at the United Way of the Titusville Region, 208 West Spring St. during regular business hours.
